Have you considered your heart? Many people trust their own heart for direction in life. Yet, Jesus provided divine insight into your heart and how it works. Jesus used the Greek word for reasoning coming from your heart. ¹God wrote: ἐκ γὰρ τῆς καρδίας ἐξέρχονται διαλογισμοὶ πονηροί, φόνοι, μοιχεῖαι, πορνεῖαι, κλοπαί, ψευδομαρτυρίαι, βλασφημίαι. He wrote that out of the heart come evil reasonings, murders, adulteries, sexual immorality, thefts, false witnesses, blasphemies. Our hearts do not provide truth for living, but often defile us because we do not follow the teachings of Jesus found in the Bible.

The purpose of this short note centers upon the source of evil reasonings. In this case, the evil reasonings appear to relate directly to the traditions of the religious people that directly contradict the commandments of God (Matthew 15:9). Jesus then explained that all kinds of evil spring from the heart. Jesus proved that the people do not defile themselves by what goes into the mouth, but what comes from the heart and out through the mouth (Matthew 15:11; 15:18).  Therefore, we should be very careful not to worship Jesus in vain, teaching as teachens (teachings from God) the precepts of men (Matthew 15:9).
